General information

Consultation is by appointment only

A full skin examination requires a 30 minute appointment and is necessary to take a comprehensive history and perform a head-to-toe skin examination. A follow up or limited skin examination is generally a 10 minute appointment – this is appropriate if you are concerned about one or two spots, or a limited area (e.g. face, hands).

For aesthetic appointments – an initial consultation allows you to discuss concerns and motivations. A full medical history will be taken, including current conditions, personal and family history, skin risk factors, medications and allergies. Your practitioner will then talk with you about what you would like to address, what options are available and outline a plan to be able to achieve this.

An SMS reminder will be sent to you one week prior to your appointment. Please let us know if you are unable to attend, or a fee may be charged.

How to prepare for your appointment

If you are a new patient, please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time, so your administrative paperwork can be completed. Please complete a new patient information sheet – this can either be printed off before you attend the clinic so you can complete ahead of time, or given to you to fill in when you arrive.

Your full skin examination will be performed in your underwear, lying down with a sheet to cover you. Please dress appropriately. Nail polish and make up must be removed prior to your appointment.

Costs

We are a private billing practice

Macquarie Skin Clinic is a private billing practice. The cost of your consultation and treatment depends on the time you spend with your doctor, and whether this is you first visit to the clinic. Our staff are able to indicate what the cost of an appointment is likely to be, however this may vary due to time spent and any procedures or treatments performed at the time. Surgical procedures and other treatments will be quoted. Medicare rebates apply to most appointments and procedures. This practice does not offer a bulk billing service.
