An initial consultation is a 30 minute appointment which allows you to discuss concerns and motivations. A full medical history will be taken, including current conditions, personal and family history, skin risk factors, medications and allergies. Your practitioner will then talk with you about what you would like to address, what options are available and outline a plan to be able to achieve this.
You are free to contact our clinic to make an initial consult with Sally, Mel or Amy. Mel and Sally will happily see you, discuss your concerns and skin goals, and determine a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Both practitioners have several years of experience and are comfortable working with you independently, but also discuss concerns with Dr Amy O’Brien when medical input is needed.
Patients can also book an appointment with Dr Amy O’Brien, with no referral required for aesthetic consultations.
An SMS reminder will be sent in the week prior to your appointment. Please let us know if you are unable to attend. When notice is given, cancellations can be easily filled, but a fee may be charged if you do not attend your appointment.
If you are a new patient, please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time, so your administrative paperwork can be completed. Our aesthetics pre-appointment information form can either be printed and filled in ahead of time or completed upon arrival.
Macquarie Skin Clinic is a private billing practice. The cost of your consultation and treatment depends on the time you spend with your practitioner and whether this is your first visit to the clinic. Our staff may be able to indicate the cost of a consultation, however fees vary depending on treatment offered on the day. Your practitioner will indicate the cost of any service prior to proceeding. Medicare rebates may apply to some medical procedures, however will not be applicable to any aesthetic treatments. This practice does not offer a bulk billing service.
Dr Amy O’Brien leads the aesthetics team at Macquarie Skin Clinic. She is an experienced medical provider and has an interest in aesthetic procedures. Amy also works with a number of lasers, managing both medical and aesthetic concerns. Patients can book directly with Amy for review and advice regarding their skin concerns. She also works closely with Sally and Mel to support their practices and provide advice as needed.
Sally is a Registered Nurse and has an interest in aesthetic procedures. She provides skin consultations and treats patients needing medical grade peels and laser. Sally assists the doctors with procedures and postoperative care. She brings a caring and cheerful nature to her work.
Melissa comes from the aesthetic industry with over 20 years’ experience in skin care, laser treatments, microneedling and medical grade peels. She provides her patients with a wealth of knowledge to ensure patients have the best experience possible. Melissa delivers one-on-one consultations regarding our specialised skin care products and can also provide individualised treatment plans.
